“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”
― Viktor E. Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning
RECOVER . REBUILD . RESTORE is a gesture to support people impacted by the floods who are looking for emotional support in different ways. We have just begun this initiative and it will take us time to build it up. But it is for everyone of you out there, those of you who have lost loved ones, homes, been hurt; those of you who have gone out there to volunteer, rescue, help and seen things that are traumatic; those of you who are exhausted and fighting with your indomitable spirits! It is a bank of resources and information that will help you understand and acknowledge your experiences.
We acknowledge how tough this is for you, we acknowledge your emotions. We hear you! If you are angry, if you are feeling excited and adventurous, if you are falling apart, if you cannot seem to feel anymore, if you are frightened, if you are crying, if you are hiding your emotions away, if it is all just too much to bear - WE HEAR YOU. HANG IN THERE! It will be a new dawn tomorrow.
Here you will find resources about depression, Post traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD) and other support information that will help you and your friends and family to understand these overwhelming emotions. Here you will find the support of the arts to take you through this difficult time. Here, we hope, you will find the reservoir of strength that you need in the days to come, something to look up to when the day feels bleak, something to hope for! Here you will also find positive stories of courage, altruism, resilience and the satisfaction of helping others. Remember that you can burn out at any time. Be gentle with yourself! There is no stigma to seeking help. Reach Out.
Just know that it is okay to feel what you are feeling now, the fighting spirit, the adrenaline rush, the tremendous compassion, the great fear, palpable excitement, sheer exhaustion, bone-numbing shock, heart- wrenching grief and the need to keep working and going on! Just know that all of it is Ok. WE HEAR YOU. RECOVER. REBUILD. RESTORE
This is an informative website that seeks to provide perspective and supportive material to those who are looking to provide psycho- social care and are feeling the need for emotional first aid even as basic needs and primary material care and health care is critical at this point. And very soon as the emotional needs become critical, we hope this site will offer timely connections and good references.
Those of you who would like to contribute to this initiative - Counsellors, Psychiatrists, Artists, Volunteers and others interested, please write to us at fooniferse[at]gmail.com
